"Servicing the Electrical Industry for over 20 years"
Many older homes operate on the older style fuse-wire switchboards. Fuses use fuse-wire to protect your wiring and to minimise the risk of electrical fires. When a circuit becomes overloaded, the fuse wire melts, stopping the flow of electricity to the circuit. In newer homes, this same protection is achieved using circuit breakers.

While fuse wire may be effective if installed correctly, more then often they are not! It is an outdated method that needs to be replaced by the new circuit breaker version of protecting cables. Fuse-wire switchboards are now considered to be outdated, with circuit breakers offering more effective protection for the electrical cables in your home.
